Larry has graciously allowed me to be a a guest blogger today. Hello. I am Sandy, Larry's wife.
I had to blog about my babysitting experience yesterday. I babysat for my daughter, Heather. She has four children. Three girls and a boy (the youngest). She and Dean were going to have an ultra-sound to find out the sex of their next child. (Their 5th! Due in July.) I love to babysit it is always fun. The girls were great. They helped me clean the kitchen for Heather so I let them watch a movie. They wanted to watch "The Sound of Music". Well Emily didn't but she learned that majority wins. I warned them that I knew the words to every song in the movie. I proved it by singing along with all the songs. They would look at me so strange. Kind of like you look at an odd looking bug. I had a great time. Then the question was asked, "How do you tell if the baby is a boy or a girl in Mom's tummy"? Gulp. I threw the question back. "What do you think?" They just didn't know. No idea. "Well, how do you tell the difference between a boy and a girl"? After I dispelled the notion that it had anything to do with long hair for girls or short hair for boys, or makeup, I finally had to spell it out for them. You could literally see the light go on over Taylor's head. Ohhhhhh. Sometimes I wonder what they teach these kids. All in all it was a fun time. They learned that Grandma is weird AND the difference between boys and girls. Oh, in case you all wondered, the new baby is a girl, although how you can tell anything from those ultra-sound pics is a mystery to me.
Sorry you had to be the one to spell that out to them! The conversation really never came up before. They have such great grandparents!
